Through this program I have learned about the multitude of ways in which we can promote mental health in our communities during the pandemic. I have also performed a needs assessment in which our group investigated the need for mental health resources for adolescents living in DC. These projects and programs are important to work to create an open dialogue concerning social-emotional well-being and learning how to best support one another in these difficult times.
I am blessed to have an incredible support system composed of family, friends and mentors. My ability to look to them for help and consult them about any issues I may have has been a huge part of my ability to transition to the new environment we are all living in. With the current social justice issues we are experiencing I have especially leaned on my incredible parents for their guidance and emotional support.
Your mental health is essential to your overall well-being and, as such, mental health resources are critical components that lead people to live healthy, thriving lives. The continual promotion of mental health in the Georgetown community is important to ensure students have the supports and tools necessary to thrive and succeed.
